OUR SLICE OF PARADISE

Cooktown Caravan Park

We are Cooktown’s newest park and have been providing a quiet, shady and welcoming place to stay now for many hundreds of visitors since 2001. The park is situated on 5 acres of natural bushland at the base of Mt Cook.  The sites are shady and a variety of native wildlife call the park home.

Fishing & Boating

Fish the outer reef for its legendary black marlin; the inner reef for coral trout, red emperor, mackerel and tuna or chase those legendary barramundi!

Coloured Sands, Elim Beach

Elim Beach, within the Hope Vale Community, offers much more than just Coloured Sands. It's a must see!

James Cook Museum

Housed in a stunning nineteenth-century former convent, the James Cook Museum in Cooktown is one of Queensland's best museums, showcasing the fascinating history of this remarkable town.

Archer Point

The Yuku Baja Muliku people are the Traditional Custodians of Archer Point, which is located 20km South of Cooktown, North Queensland. One of the windiest spots on the coast, it has stunning views and great fishing!

Beautiful Waterfalls

Within easy driving distance of Cooktown are Trevethan Falls (ask at reception for directions, 4x4 recommended), Isabella Falls (Battlecamp Road) and Endeavour Falls.

There are many places to visit in and around Cooktown so you can be as busy as you want to be. Spectacular waterfalls, productive fishing spots, secluded bays and good restaurants can all be found here.
Many tourists also come to visit the fascinating museums, significant landmarks and historical buildings because, after all, our town is named after a major figure in Australian history! 
We have a unique lifestyle.

Cooktown is a great place to stay to have mechanical work done, purchase fishing gear and stock up on supplies if you are continuing up the Cape , or spend a few days to relax when you are coming back from your adventure. In fact, Cooktown makes a wonderful destination in its own right!
